I recently moved to be closer to the Saint Louis Chess Club.
I opened up a Lichess account on lichess.org. Lichess is the only server I've found to play blindfold chess. As you can imagine, it's really fucking hard (to play without seeing the board and pieces). I mentioned it to my chess teacher and he said learning to play blindfold can help a lot! I just don't know if I can do it at my age (Okay, I'm not THAT old) and the rating level I have been at for so many years (around the 1600's). And I'm far from being an official Chess Master (I still hope to be someday).
I recently purchased a book from John Nunn - "101 Brilliant Chess Miniatures". It's not TOO difficult to follow the games in your head as there are several diagrams to guide you through the game. I wanted to study a book that doesn't require a chess set to follow. It's just too much work to study books that you need a chess set for.
I hope everyone is doing okay and hanging out there with everything that is going on this World. I don't know when chess tournaments will start up again. But, I have plenty of time to study and improve my play!
Take care,
- Lizzi
